Static hosting services
Instant activation
Thanks to our automated solution, your new static hosting will be set up immediately after you place your order.
99.9% SLA
We undertake to ensure that the service is available at least 99.9 per cent of the time on an annual basis, excluding scheduled maintenance.
NVMe storage devices
Fast servers are essential for fast service, which is why we also equip our static web servers with PCIe NVMe storage.
Backup
Your data is important to both you and us, which is why we create a backup of it every day and store the backup off-site.
Nginx web server
Nginx is one of the world’s fastest web server programs, a fact that is particularly evident when serving static files.
SFTP upload
You can upload your files via an encrypted SFTP connection, allowing you to deploy the output of a static site generator automatically.
What is static hosting used for?
Static hosting is designed for websites and files that do not require server-side processing: every visitor sees the same content, with no database queries or PHP.
What counts as static content?
Any file that is not dynamically generated: simple HTML, CSS and JavaScript-based web pages, images, videos, documents, and websites created using modern static site generators such as Jekyll or Hugo.
When is it best to make a choice?
For rarely updated ‘About’ and ‘Portfolio’ pages, websites built using static site generators (Jekyll, Hugo, Gatsby), serving high-resolution images, videos and other media files, or for CDN-style use where the sole aim is to serve files quickly.
When is it not suitable?
If your website uses a content management system, such as WordPress or WooCommerce, runs PHP scripts or requires a database, static hosting is not suitable. In this case, web hosting or WordPress hosting is the right choice.
Static Hosting: Questions and Answers
Questions about static hosting
How is it different from a cPanel hosting plan?
Static hosting includes only the most essential features, and we have optimised the Nginx web server specifically for serving static content. As a result, it can handle orders of magnitude more requests than a traditional cPanel hosting plan, whilst using the minimum possible resources.
What is the difference between the various plans?
The only differences between the static hosting plans are the storage and traffic; all other parameters are identical.
Can I run PHP or a database?
No, you cannot run PHP scripts on static hosting, and there is no access to a MySQL or MariaDB database. If your website requires PHP or a database – for example, a WordPress site – web hosting or WordPress hosting is the right choice.
How do I upload my files?
Via SFTP, using any client that supports SFTP, such as FileZilla, WinSCP or Cyberduck. Uploading can also be automated: after a build by a static site generator, for example, you can upload the finished site using lftp or an installation tool that supports SFTP. SSH access (command line) to the static hosting is not provided.
Can I use it to host images, videos or downloadable files?
Yes, this is one of the main uses of static hosting. You can use it to host high-resolution images, videos, documents or media files from another website; the traffic allowance is included within the traffic of your plan.
14-day money-back guarantee
If you’re not satisfied with the service, we’ll refund your payment. There’s no risk, so feel free to give it a go.
