WordPress 6.1.1 has been released

1 min read

Exactly two weeks after the release of WordPress 6.1 (codenamed Misha), a minor update is now available in the form of WordPress 6.1.1.

This minor release includes 29 bug fixes in the WordPress Core and 21 bug fixes in the Block Editor.

Why minor updates are important

Minor updates may not receive as much attention as major releases, but they are just as important (if not more so) for those running WordPress websites. This is because minor updates can also fix issues that could cripple businesses and their websites if they are not addressed promptly.

These minor updates also demonstrate just how robust the WordPress platform is. Minor updates are usually released within a few weeks of a major release, yet they still manage to fix 29 bugs in the Core and 21 bugs in the Block Editor component. This involves a great deal of testing and fine-tuning to ensure that the latest version of WordPress, as well as all previous versions, runs as smoothly as possible.

The care and level of maintenance invested in even minor updates demonstrate why WordPress remains the platform of choice for so many small businesses and countless bloggers. By reading the RC1 announcement, you can see a summary of the most important updates included in this release.

The previous major release was WordPress 6.0 ‘Arturo’, and the next major release will be version 6.2, scheduled for 2023.

If you have websites that support automatic background updates, the update process will start automatically.

You can download WordPress version 6.1.1 from WordPress.org, or go to your WordPress dashboard, click on ‘Updates’, then click the ‘Update Now’ button.

On our WordPress hosting, updates can also be managed from a single place using the WP Toolkit control panel.
