CloudLinux OS comprises several components, ranging from kernel-level LVE technology to higher-level applications and user interfaces. The availability of individual components varies by release, as shown in the table in the CloudLinux OS releases article.
CloudLinux Manager
LVE stands for Lightweight Virtualised Environment. CloudLinux Manager allows you to maintain fine-grained control over resources, including CPU, I/O speed, memory, inodes, the number of processes and concurrent connections, which any account can utilise. From now on, you can prevent resource abuse whilst ensuring that legitimate customers can use what they need.
CageFS
CageFS is a virtualised, per-user file system that encapsulates each customer individually, preventing users from seeing one another or accessing sensitive information. CageFS prevents a wide range of attacks, including most privilege escalation and information disclosure attacks. It is completely transparent to clients; they do not need to modify their scripts.
MySQL Governor
Note: This component is not available in the Solo and Admin editions of CloudLinux OS.
MySQL Governor monitors each user’s CPU and disk I/O usage in real time and throttles MySQL queries using LVE limits. Using the dbtop utility, it is possible to view database usage on a per-client basis, ensuring that the system administrator is always aware of what is happening.
PHP Selector
The PHP Selector allows end users to select a specific version of PHP. It offers ultimate flexibility by providing all popular versions of PHP and a choice of over 120 PHP extensions.
Ruby Selector
Note: This component is not available in the CloudLinux OS Solo edition.
Ruby Selector enables end users to select the Ruby version for their applications and install additional modules into the application environment. Ruby Selector uses mod_passenger to ensure optimal performance.
Python Selector
The Python Selector allows end users to select the Python version for their applications and install additional modules. The Python Selector uses mod_passenger to achieve optimal performance for Python applications.
Node.js Selector
The Node.js Selector is a CloudLinux OS component that enables individual users to easily create Node.js applications, select the Node.js version and configure other application parameters according to their requirements.
Apache mod_lsapi PRO
mod_lsapi PRO is the fastest PHP handler for Apache. It replaces SuPHP, FCGID, RUID2 and ITK. It has low memory requirements and supports .htaccess PHP directives.
Reseller restrictions
Note: This feature is not available in the Solo and Admin editions of CloudLinux OS.
Reseller limits are a feature that allows web hosting providers to set restrictions on the resources that individual resellers can utilise. The server administrator also controls which resources are available to individual end-users. The reseller limits set by the hosting provider restrict the total amount of resources that can be used by the resellers’ end-users.
If the hosting provider has set reseller limits for a particular reseller, it allows that reseller to set limits for end users within the reseller interface.
LVE-stats 2
LVE-stats 2 collects LVE usage statistics (CPU, memory and disk space usage) and enables the collection of usage data.
Website monitoring and Slow Site analyser
The website monitoring service regularly checks the availability and response times of websites running on the server and sends a notification in the event of an error. The Slow Site analyser generates a report on the slowest-loading pages. Available in every edition.
PHP X-Ray
PHP X-Ray is designed to identify the causes of slow PHP pages: it tracks the processing of a request and shows which functions, database queries or external calls are taking up the most time.
Note: This feature is not available in the CloudLinux OS Legacy edition.
AccelerateWP
AccelerateWP is a suite of tools designed to speed up WordPress sites, which users can enable themselves via the control panel.
Note: This feature is not available in the CloudLinux OS Legacy edition.
Centralised monitoring
Centralised monitoring is included in the Shared Pro package: it displays the load on all CloudLinux servers and users’ resource usage on a single interface.
