Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has officially launched Data Hub Integrated Solutions LLC’s green data centre, which Guinness World Records has named the world’s largest solar-powered data centre.

The green data centre of Data Hub Integrated Solutions LLC was opened by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. The facility is located within the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is the world’s largest single-site solar farm and, according to Guinness World Records, the world’s largest solar-powered data centre.

Towards a greener future in Dubai

Following the opening ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on cloud and hosting services, cyber security, smart cities, services related to the Internet of Things (IoT), professional and managed services, and Moro services powered by ChatGPT technology. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, said:

The development of the world’s largest solar-powered data centre was driven by the vision for sustainable development of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The new centre is yet another achievement that reinforces the United Arab Emirates’ role as a leading global player in promoting sustainability and the green economy.

With its world-class, solar-powered, low-carbon IT infrastructure, the data centre supports the objectives of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050 to generate 100 per cent of its energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050

The data centre, which holds Uptime TIER III certificate and uses exclusively renewable energy, has a capacity of over 100 megawatts (MW). It will cover an area of more than 16,000 square metres.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of Digital Dubai, described the project as “a shining example of Dubai’s path towards a sustainable future that takes environmental needs into account”.
