.am is the national extension for Armenia, administered by the Armenian chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC AM). It is used not only by Armenian companies and organisations but also by many people abroad.

The reason for its international popularity lies in the meaning of the two letters: ‘AM’ is short for medium-wave radio, which is why it is often chosen by radio stations, podcasts and music projects. In English, it also refers to the phrase ‘I am’, making it well-suited to personal websites, portfolios and creative domain names.

Registrations for .am domains are processed by the registry manually; therefore, registration typically takes 3 days following the order.

Domain transfer

To transfer your existing .am domain name to us, you will need to disable transfer protection with your current registrar and obtain the authorisation (Auth) code for the domain. The transfer process usually takes a few days.

How many characters can it be?

The domain name extension in .am must be at least 1 character long and no more than 63 characters long.

Special characters

With the .am domain extension, special (accented) characters cannot be used in the domain name.

Restrictions

Anyone can register a .am domain name, regardless of nationality or place of business, and without any particular restrictions. Domain names are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
