The .sk extension is the country code top-level domain for Slovakia. It was delegated in 1993 following the break-up of Czechoslovakia, and is administered by SK-NIC.
The .sk domain can be registered by individuals and organisations with a residential address or registered office in the member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area and EFTA, so you can apply for one without any problems if you are based in one of these countries.
Why should you choose a .sk domain name?
- Local presence in the neighbouring market: Slovakian shoppers look for and trust websites with the .sk extension, so this is virtually essential for selling in Slovakia.
- Better ranking in local search results: search engines clearly associate the country code extension with the country in question.
- Ideal for businesses operating in border regions: if you also serve customers in Slovakia, by registering a .sk domain alongside your .hu domain, you can reach both audiences using the extensions they’re used to.
- Quick and easy: registration is automatic, and your new domain will be ready to use in a matter of minutes.
