The .yt domain extension is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Mayotte – a French overseas department – and is administered by AFNIC (Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération), the French organisation that also manages the .fr domain extension. The .yt extension was delegated in 1997, but it was not opened for public registration until 2011.
Due to Mayotte’s small size, the number of .yt domain names is modest; there are only a few thousand registered domains, which are primarily popular amongst businesses and organisations with links to the island.
