The .cz extension is the national domain extension of the Czech Republic. Following the break-up of Czechoslovakia, it was delegated in 1993 to replace the former shared .cs extension; it is administered by the CZ.NIC association. There are now more than 1.3 million .cz domain names registered.

How many characters can it be?

The domain name extension in .cz must be at least 2 and no more than 63 characters long. A shorter, easy-to-remember name is generally preferable.

Special characters

The Czech .cz extension does not support special characters; in other words, only letters from the Latin alphabet, numbers and a few special characters (such as hyphens) may be used.

Restrictions

There are no specific requirements or restrictions regarding the registration of domain names; anyone can register one. .cz domain names are allocated on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
