On 30 October 2025, the CloudLinux team announced that CloudLinux OS 10 is now available for servers without a control panel and those using a custom control panel. The new major release is based on AlmaLinux OS 10 and the 6.12 kernel (version 6.12.0-55.9.1.el10_0 at the time of release). Full support for cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin was still under development at the time of the announcement.
Important changes compared to CloudLinux 9
- Installation requires conversion: there is no longer an ISO image available for CloudLinux 10. You must first install an AlmaLinux 10 system, then use the cldeploy script to convert it to CloudLinux 10.
- AlmaLinux release schedule: CloudLinux 10 follows the AlmaLinux release cycle; a corresponding CloudLinux 10.x version is released at the same time as an AlmaLinux 10.x point release.
- The /etc/os-release file remains unchanged: the system identifies itself as AlmaLinux, whilst the presence of CloudLinux is indicated by the
cldetectandcldiagtools. - Separate database packages: CloudLinux no longer modifies the upstream MariaDB and MySQL packages due to LVE and CageFS; the cl-MySQL and cl-MariaDB packages are intended for this purpose.
- Changes inherited from AlmaLinux 10: there are no 32-bit (i686) packages, frame pointers are enabled by default, and SPICE is available again.
According to the CloudLinux documentation, the installation looks like this on a fresh AlmaLinux 10 server (the activation key is provided by the CloudLinux licence):
wget https://repo.cloudlinux.com/cloudlinux/sources/cln/cldeploy
bash cldeploy --precheck
bash cldeploy -k ACTIVATION_KEY
We have set out the detailed steps in our article on installing CloudLinux OS.

Operation without a control panel and with a custom control panel
In a non-control-panel environment, CloudLinux guaranteed the operation of the following Shared components: LVE limits, LVE Stats, MySQL Governor, CageFS, the CloudLinux Selectors (PHP, Node.js, etc.), HardenedPHP, Apache mod_lsapi PRO, Slow Site Analyzer, Centralised Monitoring and Website Monitoring Tool. PHP X-Ray and AccelerateWP require control panel integration scripts. The Solo and Admin editions are limited to one and five users respectively on the user interface.
Known issues at launch
- alt-mod-passenger cannot access the
PassengerAppLogFilelog file if it is located in the user’s home directory, as the CloudLinux 10 httpd service runs with theProtectHome=read-onlysetting. - Initially, only versions 14 and 24 of the alt-nodejs packages were available; CloudLinux has promised to release versions 16–22 in the near future.
How long is it supported for?
CloudLinux 10 follows the RHEL 10 lifecycle; according to the announcement for CloudLinux 10.2, full support will continue until 2035. CloudLinux 9 will receive updates until 31 May 2032 (see our article on the CloudLinux lifecycle). Further releases in the 10 series:
- CloudLinux OS 10.1 (November 2025)
- CloudLinux OS 10.2 (May 2026)
Our cPanel hosting plans run on CloudLinux, whilst CloudLinux can also be installed as an operating system on our KVM VPS servers using our own CloudLinux licence.
