.ca is Canada’s country code extension, and its registry is managed by the non-profit organisation CIRA (Canadian Internet Registration Authority). With over three million registered names, it is one of the world’s major country code extensions.

How long will it take to be ready?
New domain registration
The registration of .ca domains is an automated process, so registration is virtually instantaneous; you can start using your new domain name within a few minutes of placing your order.
Domain transfer
To transfer your existing .ca domain name to us, you will need to disable the transfer lock with your current registrar and obtain the authorisation (Auth) code for the domain. The transfer process usually takes a few days.
How many characters can it be?
The domain name extension in .ca must be at least 3 and no more than 63 characters long.
Special characters
With a .ca domain extension, special (accented) characters cannot be used in the domain name.
Restrictions
A .ca domain name can only be registered by someone with a connection to Canada. The registrant must be an organisation registered in Canada, a Canadian citizen aged 18 or over, a person permanently resident in Canada, or the holder of a valid Canadian trade mark – in the latter case, the domain name must match the trade mark exactly.
Whois privacy
The Whois privacy service is available to both individuals and companies. Individuals’ personal details do not appear in the public Whois database; in the case of companies, some of the details remain hidden.
