The .se extension is Sweden’s country code top-level domain, administered by IIS (Internetstiftelsen, the Swedish Internet Foundation). The first .se domain names were registered in 1986.
Since 2003, following a major liberalisation reform, .se domain names have been available to anyone, not just Swedish organisations; as a result, their popularity has continued to grow ever since – there are now more than 1.4 million registered .se domain names.
