.tech is a generic top-level extension that has been available for registration since 2015. It is one of the best-known new top-level extensions in the technology sector.

It is used by start-ups, software and hardware manufacturers, IT service providers, technology blogs and events. It is short, understandable in any language, and there is a good chance that the name, which is already taken under .com, will be available here.

New domain registration

Registering .tech domains is an automated process, so registration is virtually instantaneous; you can start using your new domain name within a few minutes of placing your order.

Domain transfer

To transfer your existing .tech domain name to us, you will need to disable transfer protection with your current registrar and obtain the authorisation (Auth) code for the domain. The transfer process may take up to 5 days.

How many characters can it be?

The domain name extension in .tech must be at least 2 and no more than 63 characters long.

Special characters

With the .tech domain extension, special (accented) characters cannot be used in the domain name.

Restrictions

Anyone can register a .tech domain name, regardless of nationality or place of business, and subject to no particular restrictions. Domain names are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
